Fr. Quintin Ma. Garcia, O.P.

FR. QUINTIN MA. GARCIA, O.P., obtained his doctorate degree in Theology (SThD) from the Faculty of Sacred Theology of UST in 1941. Shortly after, he was assigned to the China missions of the Dominican Province of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of the Philippines. He taught at the Regional Seminary of Fookien until his expulsion from China by the Communists.

Fr. Quintin was then appointed Master of Students at the Dominican House of Studies in Hong Kong. Among the Dominicans who had their Dominican formation under Fr. Quintin are Archbishop Leonardo Z. Legaspi and Fr. Frederik Fermin, former rectors of UST; Frs. Thomas Lopez, Efren Rivera and Rogelio Alarcon, former Provincials of the Philippine Dominican Province; Fr. Ramon Salinas, former rector of Aquinas University of Legazpi.

Fr. Quintin was Professor at the Faculty of Sacred Theology and served as Regent in the College of Nursing and College of Commerce of UST.

In recognition of his unselfish and laudable dedication to the formation of young Dominicans from the Philippines and other Asian countries, future leaders of the Order and the Church in this part of the world, Fr. Quintin Ma. Garcia is given the TOTAL Award for Church Service (posthumously) by the USTAA.
