Fr. Anscar Chupungco, O.S.B.

After graduating with the bachelor and licentiate degrees in Philosophy and Theology, all magna cum laude, from the Faculties of Philosophy and Sacred Theology of UST, Ft- Anscar Chupungco pursued post-graduate studies and obtained the doctorate in Litugical Studies at the Anselmianum in Rome.

Thus began a lifetime involvement and dedication to that vital aspect of Christian life, the Liturgy, of which Fr. Anscar has since been an acknowledged and revered expert and authority. He had been professor in, and president of, the Pontifical Liturgical Institute and rector magnificus of the Pontifical Athenaeum Anselmianum in Rome.

Fr. Chupungco has written extensively on the Liturgy and done pioneering work in liturgical adaptation and inculturation in the Liturgy, which have benefited both the local and universal Church. He had served as consultor in the Sacred Congregations of the Divine Worship and the Sacraments of the Vatican, and has lectured to bishops conferences and clergies of the Americas, Africa, Asia and Europe.

Presently, he is director of the Paul VI Liturgical Insititute in Malyabalay, Bukidnon, and Secretary of the National Liturgical Commission of the CBCP.
